[dropcap]I[/dropcap] can’t believe it has been exactly one month since my last post. I apologize for being MIA and I’m super excited to get back into blogging and let you in on all the fun (and not so fun) stuff I’ve been up to this summer. As we count the last few days of summer I’ll be sharing some of my favorite tips, products, and activities to get the most out of your days in the sun. In this post, I’m sharing my top four poolside (or beachside) essentials!
You’ve probably heard enough of these three letters this summer but I’ll just say it again for the people in the back. Sunscreen is a must for healthy, youthful skin! Yes, even my melanin people. There is a lot of scientific evidence showing the harm UV rays from the sun can cause to all skin types. If you want to reduce your risk of skin cancer and maintain youthful skin longer, then sunscreen should be your best friend when planning a day out in the sun. I strive to go for SPF 30 or more for better protection and my go-to’s are Hawaiian Tropic Sheer Touch for the body, and Clinique Super City Block for the face. The good thing is both are oil-free so they are great for oily or combination skin and they don’t leave a white cast either!
2. Cooling Mist
Does it ever get just TOO HOT for you and do you ever just crave some relief from the burning or toasty sensation you feel when you lounge under the sun for an extended period of time? If you thought yes to either of these, then a cooling mist will become a staple in your pool or beach bag. I love scented ones sold by Bath & Bodyworks plus they are super affordable. They make you smell nice and also leave a very pleasurable cooling sensation.
3. Shimmer Body Oil
Shimmer oil is the best thing that happened to dark or tanned skin. However, regardless of your skin tone, a shimmering oil is great for giving your skin that healthy and glowy s look. I love the Tiare Monoi Body Oil from Bath and Bodyworks because it is not sticky and leaves a very beautiful shimmer that makes your skin radiate under the sunlight and in photos plus it also has minimal transfer. Another oil that is more costly but highly recommended is the NUXE Oil. This is a favorite for many beauty influencers.
Hats, bags, sunglasses, potatoes, tomatoes (You name itttt! haha). My go-to accessories are those that serve a dual purpose. Hats and sunglasses are great for sun protection but also aesthetically pleasing. So are bags which add some style to your outfit but also carry all your necessities. My favorite kinds are straw bags and hats. For sunglasses, I love a variety of trendy styles and so tend to spend less on them since I change them so often.
How about you? What are some things you never go to the pool or beach without? Let me know in the comments!
