[dropcap]E[/dropcap]very so often in a girl’s life, she comes across a dress that so perfectly elicits a love-hate relationship. She gives the dress the benefit of the doubt and pays whatever it costs to take it home. Sometimes, such a garment just sits in the closet never to be worn. Other times, it is given the chance to make an impression. This kinda describes what happened in this shoot. I saw this interesting green check-patterned dress online and it just stole my heart. I quickly went to the ZARA website and snagged what felt like the last one available.
Three days later, it came in the mail. In all my excitement, I tore through the packaging and there lay my dress! Hastily, I put in on and eagerly proceeded to my mirror to admire myself. I would turn one way and think hmm its lovely then turn the other way and think hmm maybe not. Has this ever happened to you?
The longer I wore it, the more I liked it… well until my friend made it clear how much she hates it (she has a thing against check patterns). Her comments then re-highlighted my doubts and now I may never wear it again lol. This is relatively irrelevant as a dress isn’t the most important thing in the world. However, this scenario made me think about the impact our words, thoughts and actions have on others. Everyone has a little something called influence.
I know in this age of influencers, it’s easy to lose sight of the true meaning of the word. I’d say influence is basically the ability to impact the thoughts & behaviors of another person. We are mostly free to do as we please; however, we need to be very careful with our words and actions and be sensitive to the people around us – our audience. Because when its all said and done, what’s important about life is not just what we were able to achieve, but how we were able to influence our audience.
What do you think about this dress and about the idea of influencing people? Leave me a comment!

INSPO OF THE DAY:
“14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14-16 NIV)
