Checked blazer

I was looking up inspirational quotes when I found this: “Success is to wake up each morning and consciously decide that today will be the best day of your life.“ – Julio-Alexi Genao. It’s the start of another week, the first Monday in 2019. Last Monday, we were all probably in a great mood looking forward to celebrating the new year; let’s keep that same energy. This year, I’m making the effort to minimize complaining and instead look for the silver lining in every situation. Rather than an “Ugh, I have to go back to work or school today”, I’ll try to always think “Great! I’m thankful to have a job or be in school working towards my purpose. Thank God for another day of being healthy and alive”.

In light of starting a new week and going back to work, today’s outfit is a work-inspired look featuring my current favorite blazer, this double-breasted checked number. This checked blazer is one of the most versatile outerwear I own. I’ll be doing a multi-look post on styling it in different ways and for different occasions sometime this year. The pattern, length, and structure of the blazer make it perfect for adding a touch of chic professionalism that can be dressed up for the ultimate CEO look when paired with a pencil skirt and pair of heels, or dressed down for the hardworking college graduate student look when worn with a white tee and pair of jeans.

My outfit today lies somewhere in the middle as I’ve paired the checked blazer, which is from H&M, with a white turtle-neck bodysuit from Mango, leather mini skirt from H&M, and cute patent flats from Zara. To accessorize, I added a subtle glam with the Michael Kors watch that I wear almost everyday, a simple gold necklace with a coin pendant from Aldo and my lucky maple leaf brooch which was a gift. Some of the items I’m wearing are sold out but I have linked some gorgeous alternatives below.

What’s the favorite blazer you own? Leave me a comment!

I hope you have a productive and gratitude-filled Monday! xoxo
